KidGlov, a boutique marketing and advertising agency based out of Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., was pleased to welcome Danielle Conrad, executive director of ACLU Nebraska, to a recent episode of its Agency for Change podcast. The podcast explored the organization’s dedication to defending civil rights and individual freedoms in Nebraska for more than 50 years.
“Many people may be familiar with the ACLU, but not understand the full impact this organization has for the rights of all Nebraskans,” said Katherine Warren, chief operating officer at KidGlov. “From women’s rights and reproductive justice to LGBTQIA+ rights and freedoms, racial justice, immigrants’ rights and more, ACLU Nebraska is truly a change-making organization.”
For over 50 years in Nebraska, the ACLU has worked in courts, legislatures and communities to protect the constitutional and individual rights of all people. With a nationwide network of offices and millions of members and supporters, they take up the toughest civil liberties fights. They believe that beyond one person, party, or side — we the people dare to create a more perfect union.
“We each have responsibilities as citizens in this democracy. And we each have power, whether that’s sending an email, writing a letter to the editor, donating to causes you believe in or running for office yourself,” said Conrad. “Taking steps to make a positive difference is the only way we’re going to see the kind of change we want in our present and our future.”
Beyond court cases, ACLU Nebraska is an advocate in the community, providing public education and outreach–helping citizens, professionals, groups and businesses understand their rights. “This really helps empower people to know their rights and know where the lines are so things don’t escalate. It’s a really important component of our work,” said Conrad.
